Macmillan Cancer Support Chess Knockout Contest 2010
If you enjoy chess and would like to help a worthy cause, this could be the contest for you.
All Profits go to Macmillan Cancer Support. This is a national competition so anyone can enter - wherever you live.
Once you have sent in your entry form, you will be sent details of who your opponent is.
In the early rounds, you will be drawn against opponents from your own county/region.
In each game, you have an hour to make all your moves.
The winner of each game goes through to the next round.
There are three separate sections.
In September, the last 16 players in each section will meet in the Chasetown, Staffs for the one-day national final.
If you have a grade,
- The Open section is for players of any rating and is for the best players.
- The Major section is for players graded under 160,
- The Minor section is for players graded under 120.
In the event of a dispute, the arbiters are: Andrew Moore and Matthew Carr.

Prizes
- First Place £250
- Second Place £130
- Third Prize £70
- Fourth Prize £50
Prizes are subject to change at the organiser’s discression.

Simultaneous
On the day of the finals, a noted player will give simultaneous display at the venue.
Entry to this will be £5.
