Leek Rapidplay Chess Congress
A 6 round rapidplay event
Details may change slightly from year to year, but this page is intended to explain the basics of the Leek Rapidplay Congress.
It should give you an idea of how it is organised, and what to expect if you are interested in taking part.

Introduction
This is a one day competition for players graded under 200.
Players have 20 minutes to complete all moves in each game, with an extra 10 seconds added for each move made.

Cheddleton section
Open to all players graded under 200
St Edward's section
Open to all players graded under 145.

 Rate of play
This year, the Leek Rapidplay is using Fischer timings.
Each player starts with 20 minutes to make all their moves.
Every time a player makes a move, 10 seconds will be added to the time that player has to make all their moves.
The 2009 Laws of Chess for Rapidplay games will apply.
