Leek Rapidplay Chess Congress

A 6 round rapidplay event

Details may change slightly from year to year, but this page is intended to explain the basics of the Leek Rapidplay Congress.  It should give you an idea of how it is organised, and what to expect if you are interested in taking part.  More details can be found either on entry forms, or from Roger Edwards (Contact details in the right hand column).

Introduction
This is a one day competition for players graded under 200.  Players have 20 minutes to complete all moves in each game, with an extra 10 seconds added for each move made.

Leek, Staffordshire.

Round 1 10.00 am
Round 2 11.25 am
Round 3 12.50 am
Round 4 2.15 pm
Round 5 3.40 pm
Round 6 5.05 pm

Refreshments.
A selection of drinks and light refreshments will be available during playing hours.

How is its organised?
Cheddleton section
Open to all players graded under 200

St Edward's section
Open to all players graded under 145.

Rate of play
This year, the Leek Rapidplay is using Fischer timings.

Each player starts with 20 minutes to make all their moves.

Every time a player makes a move, 10 seconds will be added to the time that player has to make all their moves.

The 2009 Laws of Chess for Rapidplay games will apply.

Prizes in all sections.
1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes,
plus 3 grading prizes.
