This guide is simply intended to give you an idea of what to expect if you are interested in taking part the next time it is held.

Rate of play
Each player has 120 minutes to complete all their moves in each game.

How is its organised?
All entrants were listed in descending grading order and then placed into grading sections, with up to 36 players in each section.

Prizes.
1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes,
plus a late starter prize.

Team Competition
For the 2006 Leek Congress there was a team competition, for teams of four who are bona-fide members of a club, with the best three to count.

Refreshments.
A selection of drinks and light refreshments, available during playing hours.
