Welcome

Whether you are new to chess, new to the area, or simply looking for information, this site is here to help.

Are you looking for a chess club in the Staffordshire area, so you can join and share your interest?  Are you a young player (or a parent who can't play chess but you want to encourage your child)?  Are you getting interested in Inter-county chess or the Staffordshire county cups?  Whatever your reason, this site is here to try to answer some of your chess questions.

Whether you are under 8 or over 100,
if you are interested in local chess, you've found a good starting point.
Welcome!

Unlike most websites, this one has twin news pages:  General news deals with chess matters of interest to all players, while Junior news covers subjects that may be of special interest to players aged under 18.  There are links to both news pages on the left hand side of this page, and both news pages are linked together in the same way.  The junior section also has its own events calendar, listing local and national events that you might be interested in.

As well as having twin news pages, this website also has two internet addresses:  www.staffordshirechess.org.uk will bring you here - the home page for the whole site.  Alternatively, if your interest is mainly junior chess, you may prefer www.junior.staffordshirechess.org.uk  That will take you directly to the home page of junior chess.  Whichever address you use, the links at the top of every page make the whole site easily available.

Novices
