MCCU Inter-Counties Under-100 Championship

In 2005/6, Traci Whitfield entered a team for the first time in the U100 Inter-County tournament.  Half the team in each match were junior players (aged under 18).  It proved so popular, that she ran the team again in 2006/7.

In 2006/7, there were three fixtures and again, with the intention of having half of each team as junior players - so that they can gain experience from playing events like this.  Each team included 12 players.

There are restrictions, but for this tournament, Staffordshire includes areas such as Stoke-on-Trent, Wolverhampton, Walsall, etc plus most club members from any club included in the clubs section of the site.  So if you live in or near one of these areas and are interested in taking part - get in touch.

On the day, for various reasons 3 boards were unable to attend at last minute.  We were fortunate that 2 parent/chauffeurs allowed themselves to be "persuaded" (I'm grateful to say) to step into the breach and save the team from defaulting all 3 boards.  Outgraded on 9 of the 11 boards that were played, the Staffs B team gained a very respectable 5½ points while Shropshire won with 6½ points.
