Directions to the venue
If you take the A500 and then get off at the Hanley turnoff (the MFI Island as it's known) and follow the road to Newcastle up Basford Bank (past Queens on your left) you come to a set of traffic lights.  Head straight on at those lights and then half way down the bank (just past the polite vicar) is another set of traffic lights.  Turn left at those onto Albert Street, and the New Albert Inn is on the left.  You can also access it on George Street just off Hartshill Road if you're coming from Stoke way.

Club secretary Peter Tideswell looked totally surprised at the presentation in June, when it was announced that Fenton had been awarded the trophy this year.

Amongst other things, Fenton were nominated because they are a growing and popular club, where you will always receive a warm welcome.

Congratulations to Fenton, and well done to everyone involved with the club.

League Honours
League Involvement

Fenton have been continuously involved in the League run by the North Staffs and District Chess Association since 1994/5.

From 1994/5 to 2002/3 they were known as Angel Inn Chess Club.  In 2002/3, they changed venue, and became Foley Chess Club (Playing in the Foley Arms).  Since their 2004 venue change, they have been known as Fenton Chess Club.
