Rushall Chess Club

2008 winner

During the county AGM in June, the 2008 club of the year award was presented to Rushall Chess Club. This prospering club, under the enthusiastic guidance of Steve Wilcox, was founded in 1981. The club competes in county competitions and several players regularly play in Inter-County matches. It also has a number of successful league teams. There is a mixture of adult and junior players.

Well done to Steve Wilcox and everyone at Rushall!

2007 winner

Well done Wolverhampton chess club. 2007 winners of the Staffordshire "Club of the Year" award. The club's teams have done well in league play recently, and several of their players regularly represent the county in the Inter-county matches. Well done to Barry Lewis, and all the players involved.

2006 winner

2006 Winners of the trophy were Fenton chess club.  Club secretary Peter Tideswell looked totally surprised at the presentation in June, when it was announced that Fenton had been awarded the trophy this year.

Amongst other things, Fenton were nominated because they are a growing and popular club, where you will always receive a warm welcome.

Congratulations to Fenton, and well done to everyone involved with the club.
