If you are interested in congresses
The Congress section of this site includes guides to several chess congresses held in this area - when and where they are normally held, rate of play and who to contact if you want more details.

Inter-County?
Inter-County matches are team events played on Saturday afternoons about once a month.

For all players aged up to 18
Whether you are 7 or 17, the Junior Chess section of this site should interest you.
It has its own home page, its own news page.
It also has an events calendar, with a guide to chess events you might want to play in.
It also has an introduction to the Staffordshire Junior Congress, a tournament created just for players like you.

Two internet addresses
Depending on your main interest, this website has two internet addresses:
www.staffordshirechess.org.uk
will bring you here - the general home page.
Alternatively, if your interest is mainly junior chess, you may prefer
www.junior.staffordshirechess.org.uk
That will take you directly to the home page of junior chess.

You can also find links to everything listed here at the top of the page.
Those links are there to make the whole site easily available for you.

An internet site in two parts!
People of all ages play chess, so when I first set this site up I knew it should help and encourage players of all ages.
I also knew I wanted a separate news page just for players aged up to 18 - young players deserved their own news page.
From that starting point of a website with two news pages, the site has grown into two connected (but independent) sections.
The General part of the site (where you are now), is intended to suit the needs of players of any age.
The Junior part of the site is intended to be of particular interest to players aged up to 18.
Although the two parts of the site are separate, links to the two news pages (General NEWS and Junior NEWS) are right next to each other as you can see from the top of the left hand column of this page.
That is intentional and should make it as easy as possible for you to keep up to date with what's happening on both.
To make it easy for you to get from one part of the site to the other, if you are in the general part of the site, clicking Junior Chess at the top of any page will take you to the junior news page.
Similarly, if you are in the junior part of the site, clicking Staffs chess at the top of any page will bring you back to the news page in the general part of the site.

For regular visitors
A number of these pages have been set up to make it as easy as possible for regular visitors to keep up-to-date with what's going on in the chess community.
Unlike most websites, this one has twin news pages:
- General news deals with topics that may interest any player,
- Junior news is dedicated to topics of special interest to chess players aged under 18.
There are links to both news pages at the top of the left hand side of this page, and both news pages are linked together in the same way.
The junior section also has its own events calendar, listing events you might be interested in.
